Here you can see a non-sophisticated jib sheet system from the mid 60īs that could be worked from windward. Yet simple, it worked quite well even if the friction made it hard to adjust in a blow.
Note the semi free swinging trapeze ring which most certainly costed a few seconds in every tack.
